Originally we were going to drive from Texarkana to memphis without stopping in Arkansas, but, on the advice of our friend, Alex, decided on a short stay in Hot Springs for a weekend to break up the trip, and see a part of the country we hadn't visited for almost 20 years.

Hot Springs National Park is surrounded by the city of Hot Springs, and the major attraction of the park is the tour of one of the baths, which we did. We also took a drive up the mountain to see the city from above.

From the late 1800's on, ladies and gentlemen travelled to this area to bath in the water of the hot springs for relaxation or to treat their ailments.

The water from the springs is so pure that it was used by NASA to store moon rocks!
